Studio Gallery: Art Classes

Teaching art is one of the joys of my life. I like teaching people of all ages and levels, my youngest student was 4 years old, and the eldest 84. The different levels and age groups keeps me challenged as a teacher, and keeps the classes lively. All you need to learn from me, is a teachable spirit and the willingness to explore and make mistakes, as well as a passion to learn about art. Creativity is often blocked by fear, and I believe I am just an instrument to facilitate a process of unblocking the fear, and getting the student to the next level of creativity. For this I give credit to the Holy Spirit, who is my Helper and without whom I wouldn’t be able to do what I do. These classes are more than art classes, and I enjoy to see how people can grow and heal and find their identity through art. Often we end up laughing at each other, learning from what the other is busy with, and being challenged my the many forms that art can take.

The classes are in Jamestown, Stellenbosch, in the Western Cape, South Africa.

It helps to determine what level you are at and to see your own unique art style. I usually start all new students with a Drawing Foundation course to ensure that their observational skills are sound before they start painting. If, however, your drawing skills are sound already, you can choose to start with oil paints, or with painting in watercolours. I will then provide you with list of Materials for each respective medium that you can shop for.
